The Madera County Historical Society will launch the Christmas season with its annual gala on Dec. 8, in the Madera County Courthouse Museum and will continue to spread holiday cheer for the next two weeks with an open house.
The old-fashioned Christmas celebration, from 5 to 8 p.m., will feature a dinner and dessert buffet with a no-host bar. Tickets are $30 per person.
According to society president, Sheryl Berry, hundreds of volunteer hours have gone into transforming each exhibit room in the 112-year-old building into a veritable showcase for the holidays.
Guests will have their choice of decorated rooms in which to mingle and dine. The Native American, lumber, war and peace, and agriculture rooms, as well as the blacksmith shop are just some of the museum hideaways that have been given a new look for the gala...
