The federal government is set to announce today how much water will be delivered throughout the state, but farmers — even the ones who will swig most of the meager supply — are not very enthusiastic to hear the news.
Madera County Farm Bureau Executive Director Anja Raudabaugh said she hopes growers in Madera receive at the very least 50 percent water allocation, but even she says that’s a long shot.
“There will probably be about a 40 percent allocation for the people who have primary water rights over the river water,” Raudabaugh said.
