To begin the postseason, five girls soccer teams from the County/Metro Athletic Conference entered the Central Section Div. I and II playoffs.
All five of those schools, including Madera (12-10-5) and Madera South (10-10-3), are all still alive and will compete in today’s quarterfinal matches with the winner advancing to Wednesday’s semifinal games.
In the Div. II first round playoffs, the No. 6 Stallions knocked No. 11 Tulare Western out contention with a 2-1 win Wednesday night in Memorial Stadium while the No. 9 Coyotes traveled to Porterville and left with a 1-0 victory over No. 8 Monache.
The Stallions head to Fresno to face CMAC opponent No. 3 Edison at 6:30 p.m. in McLane Stadium while Madera is on the road again with a trip to Bakersfield for a match at No. 1 Frontier at 4:30 p.m. CMAC teams Bullard-Fresno — No. 4 in Div. I — and Sanger No. 12 in Div. II are also playing tonight...
